Friday night at the access ShoWare Center in Kent, WA it was all smiles for the Portland Winterhawks. Winterhawk player Cross Hanas slotted three goals for the hat-trick while Taylor Gauthier came up big stopping 31 of 32 shots.

With the win, Portland comes closer to winning the series holding a 3-1 lead in the second-round playoff series. They hope to advance to the Western Conference Championship with a win in Game 5.

In the first period, Portland took the lead scoring two goals while getting some phenomenal defensive play to keep the Thunderbirds off the board. In the second period Seattle would notch their first goal of the night, but that would be their last. Penalties proved costly for Seattle as Portland was able to take advantage of the power play to score three goals before the end of the period.

A back and forth battle in the third period ended with just one goal as Hanas grabbed the hat-trick with a shorthanded empty-netter in the final seconds of the game.

Both teams head south for Game 5, on Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum .
