Round 1 Gets the Season Started
Puyallup Flat Track opened its indoor racing season on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Arena G at the Washington State Fairgrounds. The series is heading into its 9th season, and another stellar year of indoor flat track racing in the PNW is underway. Riders, from the youngest to the most experienced, were excited to be back on the oval for the season’s first points.

The evening offered spills and thrills as fans cheered on the action from the stands. With 68 races spread out over two hours, the stage was set for some serious action leading into the finals.

Indoor flat track is hard to beat for a night out this time of year. The oval is tight, the noise fills the arena, and riders pitch their bikes sideways into the corners with only inches between them. Fans sit close enough to feel every pass, and Saturday’s crowd got plenty to cheer about.

A Full Night of Racing
The program covered motorcycle and quad racing for all ages, from the Stacyc and Strider classes for the youngest riders up to the more experienced 250, 450, and ProAM classes.

That range is part of what makes Puyallup Flat Track special. A first-time racer on a Stacyc shares the same pits as riders on the biggest bikes, and the younger riders get to see where the sport can take them. Families, volunteers, and fans fill out the picture, and the result is a welcoming atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

Every race brought out the riders’ best, and each one proved that nothing was decided until the checkered flag. Opening night is when the points battles begin, and with Round 1 in the books, every rider now has a number to chase.
