Ice Racing Round 3 Recap: Everett Delivers Electric Show

Colby Long Dominates with Triple Crown Performance at Angel of the Winds Arena

EVERETT, WA (January 30, 2026) — The annual visit of Xtreme International Ice Racing to Angel of the Winds Arena proved why this Pacific Northwest stop remains one of the premier events on the tour. Round 3 delivered everything promised: fierce competition, nail-biting finishes, and the kind of unpredictable action that only ice racing can provide.

Long Claims Ice Racing Triple Crown

The night belonged to Colby Long, who put on a masterclass performance across multiple disciplines. Long swept both the Pro Flattrack and Outlaw Pro Quads divisions, then added a third-place finish in Speedway to cap off a remarkable evening.

The heats were packed with epic battles, leading to some intense showdowns in the main event. Long’s ability to dominate on both two wheels and four demonstrated the versatility that separates good racers from great ones on the ice.

In Pro Flattrack, Long held off Eric Rickman and Makenna Hiatt in what proved to be one of the most competitive main events of the night. The Outlaw Pro Quads saw equally fierce competition, with Kit McGhie and Shane Homme rounding out the podium behind Long’s commanding performance.

Legault Takes Speedway Crown

Kyle Legault emerged victorious in the Speedway division, where bikes accelerate from 0 to 60 in under three seconds and riders navigate the ice with no brakes. Kelly Kerrigan finished second, with Long’s third-place result adding to his impressive night.

The Speedway format, featuring four-lap heats leading to six-rider finals, kept fans on the edge of their seats throughout the evening, with races lasting just about 60 seconds each and delivering maximum adrenaline.

King of the Hill Quad Thriller

One of the night’s most anticipated events, the King of the Hill for Pro Quad, lived up to its billing. Tension mounted as riders were eliminated lap by lap in this unique elimination-style format. The progressive intensity as the field narrowed created some of the loudest moments of the evening from the crowd.

The Future Shines Bright

Perhaps the most inspiring performances came from the youngest competitors. The Burromax Youth Class, racing alongside the 1/4 midget karts, stole the spotlight with displays of raw talent that had veteran racers taking notice.

These young competitors stole the spotlight! Their talent shone brightly, proving that the future of racing is in good hands.

The Burromax Pro Class also delivered fierce battles on the XRB’s, showcasing the skill and determination that has made this series a fan favorite. The tight racing and multiple passes demonstrated why the Burromax platform has become such an integral part of the XIIR experience.

An Event to Remember

The energy from the crowd was electric, and the riders truly delivered a show to remember. The atmosphere at Angel of the Winds Arena created the kind of venue energy that makes ice racing in an arena so special, a sentiment long championed by XIIR promoter and nine-time world champion Anthony Barlow.

Behind the scenes, the Angel of the Winds Arena staff and race crews worked tirelessly to transform the venue into a world-class ice racing facility, maintaining the ice needed to create a safe yet challenging racing surface.

Looking Ahead to Loveland

With Round 3 in the books and a weekend off to recover, XIIR now sets its sights on Loveland, Colorado. Round 4 takes place on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, at 3:00 PM at the Blue FCU Arena.

The West Coast Championship race is heating up after Everett, with Long’s dominant performance positioning him as a serious contender. However, with the unpredictable nature of ice racing, where anything can happen in 60 seconds, the championship remains wide open.

As Barlow likes to remind people: “It doesn’t matter how good you are on the dirt. Anything can happen on the ice.”
