Western Oregon shocked the tournament ousting top ranked Saint Martin’s with a buzzer beating 3-pointer to knock the Saints out of the GNAC Tournament.
The Saints struggled to find their regular season form while facing a determined and on-point Western Oregon team. The Wolved came out firing knocking down basket after basket each time down the court. They coupled their scoring with a solid defensive performance putting the Saints on their heels throughout the first half.
The Saints were able to crawl back from an early deficit, but were met basket for basket by the Wolves going into the half.
In the second half everything was going Western Oregon’s way as their lead hit as many as 14 before the Saints started chipping away. The Saints got within three at the nine-minute mark before the Wolves pushed it back to double-digits. The Saints were able to rally with a 13-2 run grabbing the lead with seconds left before the final shot from Western Oregon.
