Seattle Thunderbirds

Seattle came out swinging scoring an early goal in the 1st period on a Jared Davidson goal. Seattle looked in control with heavy hitting and solid pressure in the offensive zone. Seattle forced Portland goalie Gauthier to make some key saves to keep the score within one.

Heading into the second period Portland came out scoring two goals to take the lead, only to have Seattle tie it up before the end of the period.

Portland Winterhawks

In the third period it was Gauthier who made the biggest difference in the game. As the defense held strong throughout it was Portland’s Clay Hanus who scored the go ahead goal deep in the third. On the ensuing face-off Seattle pulled their goalie, and Portland was able to add an empty netter.

Portland and Seattle look to regroup tomorrow in Portland for game 2.
